What is the G&A Sustainability Reporting Database?

G&A provides public access to a range of research and other content that helps to advance the understanding of corporate sustainability and sustainable investment. This database, known as the Sustainability Reporting Database (SRD), is an important element of G&A’s education and information-sharing mission for our valued connections.

Where does the SRD information come from?

For over a decade, G&A was the designated data partner for the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) in the United States, United Kingdom, and Republic of Ireland until GRI ended the program in 2020. In this capacity and also independently, G&A's sustainability analysts have examined thousands of sustainability reports from a wide range of sectors and industries, covering many reporting details related to various ESG topics, standards, frameworks, assurance, SDGs, and more. The data and results of this research were carefully analyzed and made part of a comprehensive internal database that G&A started developing in 2006 when we were first established. Our findings are shared in various research reports published by G&A, including the annual trends reports on the S&P 500 and Russell 1000, found on our website.

Portions of our research were shared with GRI to create the GRI Sustainability Disclosure Database, which was the largest freely available database of sustainability reports. GRI has ended the Data Partner work and shut down the Sustainability Disclosure Database as of Q2 2020.

Why are we maintaining the SRD?

As a public service to further G&A's education and information-sharing mission, we will continue our work analyzing sustainability reports of U.S.-based companies and sharing select data through the SRD. The data from this ongoing work will continue to feed our various annual research reports, as well as inform our internal processes, tools, and methodologies to better support/guide our clients in their sustainability journeys.

Beyond this foundational ESG information, the G&A team provides clients with key services such as materiality assessments, gap analyses, peer benchmarking, ESG data capture and context, alignment with ESG reporting standards and initiatives, sustainability report drafting and design, improving ESG scoring and ratings, and much more.
